Day 24 of The Minimalist Game and I’m seriously flagging.
I feel a bit weepy, my house looks a bit bare, I’m wondering - why am I doing this again?
What even is minimalism and what’s it all about?
“Minimalism is a lifestyle that helps people question what things add value to their lives. By clearing the clutter from life’s path, we can all make room for the most important aspects of life: health, relationships, passion, growth, and contribution,” say The Minimalists.
But not one size fits all, the say. “There are many flavours of minimalism: a 20-year-old single guy’s minimalist lifestyle looks different from a 45-year-old mother’s minimalist lifestyle. Even though everyone embraces minimalism differently, each path leads to the same place: a life with more time, more money, and more freedom to live a more meaningful life.
Getting started is as simple as asking yourself one question: How might your life be better if you owned fewer material possessions?”
That’s our journal prompt for today.
(As well as rooting through your cupboards to find those 24 things to go out of the door. If you struggle, make a list of emotional baggage that you vow to let go of like I did yesterday)
Thank you for this really honest post. With it being half term and a bout of hand, foot and mouth 🥲 I feel claustrophobic with the clutter and constant mess and disorder. I have been sticking to my daily journal practice and creating for my sketchbook — alongside the kids of course. (Today we painted with inks!) but I’m going to take onboard the idea of what I’d like to let go of. Maybe one of them could be my unrealistic expectations of myself, during holiday periods, whilst I’m parenting solo as my partner is at work 🙃
I am going to look at jewellery today and there’s a box of Christmas stuff I’ve been meaning to sort. If you need to sort more stuff you can come here 😂
