The one thing I learnt that could help me create a healthier future
To live the life you want, it helps to be healthy but how many of us fail to create sustainable healthy habits? It doesn't have to be that way says top coach Pete Cohen.
I just interviewed Pete Cohen, top coach, speaker, author of over 20 motivational books about how to create and stick to healthy habits. I have known Pete for over 25 years. I first bumped into him when he was a personal trainer and I was the health editor on a national magazine called New Woman.
Pete went on to become GMTV’s resident life coach for 12 years and he continues to share his inspirational messages online, in his books and on TV.
In the interview above, I talk to Pete about how I’ve been immersed in the self development world for years but I still struggle with sticking to my health goals. I’ve just started my 100 day meditation challenge and even on day 3, I don’t find it easy to stick to my commitment.
Which can send me into a spiral of negative thinking and ‘you see, you’ll never change’ inner dialogue.
So how do I turn this around? At the grand old age of 55, is there a secret I am missing? It’s good news and bad news.
“It’s simple but not easy,” says Pete. “But what if committing to healthy habits was an act of courage.”
I love this.
What if committing to healthy habits was a act of courage?
Courage is one of my highest values and I love this way of reframing it. When I try and motivate myself to do more steps/eat healthier/go to an exercise class, I can feel a bit meh but if I’m asked to be brave, I’m there like a bear.
Courage may not be one of your highest values - but what is? How can you link your health goals to your highest value?
Listen to Pete’s wisdom on the video above for more inspiration.
Pete is hosting a Magnificent Health Summit in London on the 3rd September. You can book here. https://www.mi365.me/summit
He’s talking along side fitness star Lucy Wyndham Read, who has over 58 million hits on her YouTube challenge and is 52!
(I’m going so let’s meet up there if you decide to go along )
Thanks for sharing a replay. I love the idea of tying in health goals with our values! Mine are curiosity, compassion and creativity.. lots to think about x
