“Your sacred space is where you can find yourself again and again." Joseph Campbell

Last night we kicked off our very first Writing Rehab session (first Wednesday of every month at 7pm BST — come join us!), inspired by Julia Cameron’s The Artist Way and the theme was Permission.

Not the kind your boss gives you. Or your mum. Or the imaginary headteacher in your head with the clipboard and the raised eyebrow.

The permission to be creative.
Messy. Unfinished. Wildly unproductive.

We talked about carving out a secret (or maybe sacred) space where you can just play. Not for likes. Not for clients. Not even for your future self with the polished portfolio.

Just you. A notebook. A weird idea. A half-hummed song. A badly drawn seagull. A crocheted blob.
Glorious nothing.

Because that’s often where everything starts.

So here’s your reminder:
You don’t need a certificate to be creative.
You just need a bit of space, a little time, and your own damn permission slip.

Writing Prompt:
If you created a secret space to make stuff just for you, what would it look like — and what would you do there?

Don’t forget the writing hour starts at 9am. Join our join our Heart Leap (sacred) space and just come and scribble, journal or even just stare into space. You’ll be in good company.

Heart Leap is about tools, ideas, and people who help us make a leap in thinking so we feel inspired and uplifted rather than trapped, stuck, and downhearted.

Heart Leap is for writers who want to write and get their words out into the world but who find writing a hard slog but don’t want to give up the dream. Think of Heart Leap as your very own cosy writing nook, which gives support and accountability .

I run two writing hours a week at 9am (BST) on a Tuesday and Thursday and a ‘writing rehab’ on the first Wednesday of the month at 7pm (BST) where we discuss ways to boost our creativity, set ourselves delightful artist’s dates and realistic writing goals while drinking tea.

Heart Leap is for people starting again, literally or metaphorically.
