"You can’t turn back the clock. But you can wind it up again." — Bonnie Prudden
You can’t turn back the clock.
But you can wind it up again.
I love this idea.
After a long Winter of working very hard with a wobbly few months of change, house moves and a deep decluttering of the soul and sock drawer-I’ve started to feel that gentle click-click-click of motion again. Suddenly the gears are changing. Not rushing, not reinventing, just… winding up again. In a good way.
This weekend I went to the Hart Hope Valley- no, I’m not making that name up- and it felt like something from a fairytale. A secluded waterfall, a plunge pool, mossy stillness all around. I stood there, slightly awed, thinking: This is it. This is how I wind myself up again. Not by pushing or planning. But by pausing. By being in the kind of place where time stretches and softens, and the clock in your chest remembers how to tick.
With new opportunities opening up on the horizons, I feel I am moving forward. There’s something comforting about the idea that we don’t have to start over or hustle harder. We don’t need to be younger, thinner, better, or “caught up.” We don’t have to throw it all out and begin again. We just have to wind ourselves back up.
With intention. With kindness. With whatever feels like fuel to you.
We don’t need to be perfect.
We just need to remember that the hands still turn.
Monday Journal Prompts:
What gently winds you back up when you feel stuck or low?
If your week ahead had a theme tune, what would it be?
What are you doing right now (or want to do) that’s quietly helping you come back to life?
Is there a part of your routine or mindset you’d like to ‘wind up again’?
What would ‘showing up for yourself’ look like this week?
Theme song: never gonna give you up … I have no idea why. It’s not my fave song or genre. What resets me? Sleep, good food, and joyful exercise … an and being in the woods! Also when the birds & bunnies & insects come visit. Working on a project I like fires me up, as does feeling like I’m being supported by the universe.
Wow. I had just prayed for a sign, and your message popped up immediately afterwards! Thank you.
