Writing isn’t about nailing it—it’s about turning up, one word at a time, and trusting that something will eventually make sense.
Heart Leap Writing Hour starts at 9am
“Don’t look at your feet to see if you are doing it right. Just dance.” ―Anne Lamott
Ah, January. The month that feels like it’s been going on since 1973. Christmas is a faint memory, New Year’s resolutions are already wobbling, and Blue Monday has trudged past us in its muddy boots yesterday. And yet, somehow, we’re still here.
So, what’s the plan for today in the Heart Leap writing hour? Honestly, just show up. Even if you’re not sure what you’re doing. Even if your brain feels like porridge and your creativity is in witness protection. Writing isn’t about nailing it—it’s about turning up, one word at a time, and trusting that something will eventually make sense.
You’re allowed to wrap yourself in a blanket, eat that emergency chocolate (you know the one hidden behind the quinoa), and let yourself be soothed by the thought of a Friends marathon later.
I scrolled back through my January posts from last year as I was feeling gloomy then too. "Just in case anyone else is feeling a bit gloomy today, remember you’re not alone. Reach out to a friend, talk about it with someone, and let’s hang on to each other and keep our faces towards the sunshine until we feel a bit better."
Turns out, Past Me was onto something. So here’s the plan today: we keep turning up. We write, we chat, we share, and when all else fails, we eat carbs and nap.
It’s easier together. Don’t feel alone. Join me today at 9am for an hour of writing with the kind, funny, and inspirational Heart Leap tribe. Think of it as a cosy, judgement-free zone where we all agree to show up, no matter how messy our brains or our pajamas. You bring the tea, I’ll get the fire going and let’s write together
Writing Prompt:
On a cold January morning, the sun rises as if it’s got a plan. What does it change for the world—or for you?
