“There is no ideal condition for creativity. What works for one person is useless for another. The only criterion is this: Make it easy on yourself. Find a working environment where the prospect of wrestling with your muse doesn’t scare you, doesn’t shut you down. It should make you want to be there, and once you find it, stick with it. To get the creative habit, you need a working environment that’s habit-forming. All preferred working states, no matter how eccentric, have one thing in common: When you enter into them, they compel you to get started.” Twyla Tharp The Creative Habit.
I host the writing hour twice a week because it makes it easier for me to get to the page and get my novel finished. I find writing quite lonely, and on my own, my inner voice is loud. When I’m typing away with the Heart Leap tribe, it all feels a little less daunting.
Two hours a week. I have to turn up for two hours a week. That’s all , I tell myself.
If you want to write and are feeling afraid, come and join our merry group. We are friendly and kind and wracked by all sorts of fears, but we turn up to write anyway.
Writing together makes everything seem a bit better.
So many of us work from home these days, and it can feel isolating. Being part of a writing community where, over time, you get to know a few new faces and hearts and substacks—it’s wonderful.

Here’s a journaling prompt for your writing or for your life.
Journaling Prompt:
What kind of environment makes it easy for you to show up and take action? Where do you feel most at ease with your ideas—free from fear, resistance, or perfectionism? Describe the conditions that help you enter a flow state, whether it’s physical space, time of day, or the presence of others. If you don’t have that space yet, what small changes could you make to create it?
