Want to write a book but given up hope?
I have been trying to write my latest book for over 3 years, it's not easy but here's how I'm going to finally finish it. Are you going to join me?
I find writing hard. It doesn’t come easy to me. I love ‘having written’. Journalism works for me because I have an editor giving me deadlines, a brief and a word count. Writing a book….however….I get discouraged, I lose my way, I can’t hold it all in my head at the same time, I procrastinate and it makes me feel miserable. I’m a raving extrovert and I get lonely typing away on my own.
That’s why for all my paid subscribers who join my Heart Leap Club, I’m running a twice weekly ‘happy writing hour.’ 9am on a Tuesday and a Thursday. It’s about accountability and feeling like you’re not alone as well as just getting the words on the page.
Our ‘writing happy hours’ are 60 minutes with 5 minutes chat at the beginning, followed by us each writing our own books. Then we do a brief sum up at the end.
It's brilliant for accountability. Even if you manage to get 1000 words written x twice a week, you will have a draft done in 6 months.
But as we all know, it's not really about the word count, it's keeping going when you've got a million and one other things to do and some how keeping connected to the words and the story.
Tomorrow, I've also managed to get Substack Expert Claire Venus to come along tomorrow for half an hour at 10am for a 30 minute masterclass as an added bonus…
Claire is wonderful - a small business owner and coach who has been writing on her Creatively Conscious substack for a year and she will be sharing her wisdom with us tomorrow at 10am.

Yes!! I will be there. I finally finished my first book earlier this year which is currently under submission (yaay!), but I am procrastinating wildly on my second, so this is my impetus to begin. Looking forward to it x
Ooh this sounds perfect for when my youngest starts school in September and I’ll have more time to write. Definitely keeping this in mind for then, thank you 😊
