“The way we do anything is the way we do everything.” Martha Beck
I noticed the way I fill the kettle always results in water everywhere.
Every time.
Why? I turn on the tap full throttle trying to fill it via the spout rather than slowing down and opening the top.
How I fill the kettle is how I do life.
I travel too fast.
I try to cram too much in.
My motivation is probably trying to save time so I don’t waste a drop of life.
I’m trying to cram my everything into life’s corners, to maximise my experiences.
It probably stems to the fact that my parents died when I was teenager and I realised early on that life can end very quickly and you don’t know how long you’ve got.
So I go fast, cramming too much in.
It can be fun. But it can also be exhausting and counter-productive.
I can’t enjoy the present because there is too much going on.
The way I fill the kettle is the way I live my life.
Maybe it’s time to I do it a little differently.
What about you?
It’s day 21 of 31 day journalling challenge. Here’s the prompt.
Oh I love this Suzy. The kettle analogy is brilliant. The state of my handbag is representative of my life - bursting to the seams, colourful, chaotic but you can always (eventually) find what you need. 💕
Gorgeous reminder to bring that attention back to EVERYTHING. Thank you Suzy xo
