The One Where You Name Your Year
Or the first half of it anyway. Day 5 of the mid-year recap.
"If you don’t like the road you’re walking, start paving another one." — Dolly. Parton
If 2025 were a book, what would the title of the first half be?
Chaos in a Cardigan?
She Meant Well: The Memoir?
Hold My Coffee, I’m Trying Again?
We’re halfway through the year, which makes now the perfect time to take a little look back — not for judgment, but for clarity (and possibly comedy). Has it been a plot twist? A slow burn? A surprise sequel you didn’t see coming?
Maybe it started in disaster but is turning into a feel-good redemption arc. Maybe you’re still in the “what the hell is going on” chapter. Either way, naming your story gives it shape — and reminds you that you’re still the author.
Even if the first half’s been a bit of a mess, messes make great memoirs.
Today’s journal prompt:
If my year so far had a title, it would be called...
(And feel free to add a subtitle for flair.)
Title: Still Got It (And Then Some)
Subtitle: Adventures in midlife magic and messy becoming
My title for the first half of this year is:
The Ice-Water Plunge of Becoming a Carer - How to stop gasping and reorient when the life you've built is cancelled and replaced with a new one.
