"The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any." — Alice Walker
It’s day 29 of the 31 day journalling challenge.
Empowerment, powering up, powerful, stepping into your power.
What does power mean to you? Any negative connotations?
I have had major trust issues in the past so I haven’t always had the best relationship with power. I mistrust powerful people, people who have power over me and how power is wielded.
I am working on a new belief system that stepping into my power means I can create positive change, that I can be part of the solution, not the problem, that I can have a seat at the table when the important decisions are being made.
When I feel powerful I can create boundaries about what is and what is not acceptable to me.
When I feel powerful I choose be in healthy, kind relationships.
When I am powerful I can direct my life in the direction I want to go.
When I am powerful I feel hopeful and full of energy and excitement.
When I feel like powerless, I shrink and feel hopeless and can’t seem to get going. I feel like a victim, that I have no agency over my life.
To rebuild my life up in Alnwick from scratch, I need agency, I need hope and energy. I need to believe that I have the power to change things, to change my mindset, to change the direction of my life by taking baby steps into a new horizon.
The first step is believing that this is possible.
The second step is taking a brave step.
Then another.
Here are some journalling prompts to explore your relationship with power.
This is so true and we all need to recognise our power. You have some great ‘mantra’s to help set you up in your new life. 💗
I love this journal prompt. It lines up perfectly with Leo season Lammas. I feel powerful when I am disciplined, when I fight through imposter syndrome, face the fear and do it anyway!
