That's not success.
“If your success is not on your own terms, if it looks good to the world but does not feel good in your heart, it is not success at all.” Anna Quindlen
Here’s your journalling prompt for day 9 of your 31 day challenge. In your journal, explore answers to question:
What does success feel like to you?
What feels satisfying? Once everyone has gone home and you sit there alone, what makes you feel quietly, calmly proud of yourself?
For me, it’s often not about the outcome but more about the effort I have expended.
It’s about taking the brave option.
It doesn’t always work out but I am proud of myself for trying.
Even though, I can crash and burn at times, it’s then I learn the most important lessons to take me where I want to go.
For me, success is about making brave decision, to dare to make the attempt (to write the book/the date/to create a Substack/to make new friends/to live on a canal boat when I know nothing about canal boats) versus sit there afraid and moaning about my life/people/circumstances (that’s when I am least proud of myself.)
It’s getting very honest with myself and trying something new.
Yes, we’re definitely allowed to be afraid, we’re definitely allowed to whinge and moan for a bit but then…I believe true success is making a plan and giving something new a try.
What is true success to you?
P.S I run the Heart Leap Writing Hour for paid subscribers and for those wanting some accountability and company as they write their Substack, books and projects. It’s Tuesday and Thursday at 9am. Join us here today.
