Replay: "The producer of the Crown was in the audience and she optioned my play for television"
Here's our recent extraordinary masterclass with author Preethi Nair. If you're feeling a little downhearted and want an injection of can-do inspiration, then watch this playback.
I was on an absolute high last week after interviewing Preethi Nair for our Heart Leap Masterclass—and trust me, you’ll want to hear her story.
Preethi’s journey to getting published is nothing short of extraordinary. After being made redundant and facing rejection after rejection for her manuscript Gypsy Masala, she did something bold: she set up her own publishing and PR company from her bedroom. She even created an alter ego—Pru Menon, a made-up publicist—who went on to be shortlisted for Publicist of the Year.
From there, she secured a three-book deal with HarperCollins, then did something even more daring—she turned down a fourth book deal to self-publish on her own terms.
Oh, and did I mention she also wrote and starred in a sell-out one-woman show in London’s West End—playing all twenty parts herself? The play is now being adapted for television (by the producer of The Crown!), and she has transformed it into her latest novel, Unravelling.
In this unmissable masterclass, Preethi shares:
How she broke into publishing against the odds
The secrets of self-promotion (even when it feels icky)
How to handle rejection and keep going
Why creative independence matters
If you’re a writer, a dreamer, or just someone who loves a story of resilience and reinvention, this session is for you.
Don't miss this one—it’s proof that sometimes, the best way forward is to rewrite the rules.
