Writing Prompt: How can I practice gratitude for the things I choose to keep?
Write about the things you’ve chosen to keep in your life—whether physical objects, memories, or relationships—and why you’re grateful for them. How does gratitude help you value quality over quantity?
It’s day 15 of the Minimalist Game
Are you still playing?
We need to get rid of 15 things by midnight tonight.
But what about the things you are choosing to keep?
(Here’s a beautiful painting and thank you present from an amazing painter and human being Lucy Trickett, which has graced my walls ever since Lucy gave it to me over five years ago. It’s a memory of precious, inspiring times with creative people when I worked at Psychologies. )
What are you choosing to keep and why?
I am fortunate to have been able to give something away and keep it at the same time. While cleaning out the attic, I discovered that the dollhouse all 3 of my daughters enjoyed was still in good shape, as well as a lot of the furniture and figures that went with it. After a bit of clean up, I delivered it to my granddaughter yesterday. She’s home sick with a bad cold and her mom, my daughter, who is pregnant with another little girl is watching her daughter play with the house. So while the dollhouse is no longer in my attic, I still get to enjoy it, too, through my daughter’s and her daughters’ eyes. Such joy!
