How to work on and in your writing with Jacq Burns, Literary agent and co-founder of London Writers' Club
Jacq was the commissioning editor at Random House and the editorial director at Harper Collins, where she edited classics such as Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, Who Moved My Cheese, Chicken Soup for the Soul, and Toddler Taming, which have sold millions of copies.
She is the author of Write a Bestseller, published by Hodder, and a bestselling series of successful books for Random House, under a pseudonym. Jacq has also ghostwritten a number of well-known titles and co-founded the London Writers Club. She is also a literary agent for authors.
In this masterclass, we will discuss how:
• To create a successful piece of writing that does what you want it to do, writers need to consciously work both on and in their writing.
• Working in your writing is when you are creating, imagining, dreaming, and letting words flow on the page.
• Working on your writing means understanding your hook, premise, and story and doing the editing ready to pitch.
• If we mix up the two ways of being when writing, we crush our creative flow and make writing harder, and then find it difficult to objectively pitch and sell our work.
I will be hosting creativity and happiness classes on the last Wednesday of every month at 1 p.m. Would love to see you at these classes if you are around.
