“Holding on is believing that there's only a past; letting go is knowing that there's a future.” Daphne Rose Kingma
Day 20 of the decluttering challenge. (Check out the 30 Day Minimalists Game)
I’m struggling a bit to let go of 20 bits of physical stuff today. (I still have some old admin to go…..but still….)
So I am making lists of old beliefs, old paradigms that no longer serve me.
The first step is to acknowledge they exist still.
I’m amazed at the old beliefs and assumptions that I have hidden in the back of my emotional cupboard.
To be honest, I am finding it hard going and depressing.
So today, I’m going to focus on new ideas and beliefs that I want to start building on for my future.
Here are some new ideas, I’m rolling round my head and heart
It is possible for me too.
It’s not too late.
Love wins.
Communities are fuelled by kindness.
Creativity is the beating heart of any society.
Older and wiser
All we have is the present - enjoy it more
To make room for these new ideas and for them to take root in my life, I need to let go of the old beliefs that seem to cling so stubbornly to my psyche.
My first step of letting go is encouraging myself with the thought of a bright future ahead.
It doesn’t feel so scary then when my inner tree is bare and weathering the Winter storms.
Maybe if we can imagine the blossoming that will happen in the summer ahead, then letting go will be easier?
Let’s see.
Journal Prompt:
What new beliefs do you want to create for a future you enjoy?
I deserve a living donated kidney. (that one made me cry)
I love my new kidney and honour it by living a kind life and being as healthy as possible. I love my beautiful new hip(hopefully soon to recieve ) and can walk 2 miles on a good day. Thank you for the nudge to create these beliefs.... 🙏❤️
I’d just read this quote from Debora Robertson’s Licked Spoon Substack, which feels fitting here.
Wherever you are, I urge you to plant your bulbs right now, possibly today, even if it’s only a couple of pots or a window box. It’s a gift to share with future you, a little sweetly-scented joy on the horizon, and who doesn’t need that?
