“Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure”— OPRAH WINFREY

Journal Prompt:
In this moment, what are belief are holding onto that is preventing you from fully embracing the present? How can you focus on the here and now, letting go of worries about the past or future to find peace in the present moment?

The main thought that prevents me from sinking into and enjoying the present (and instead running away from my past and into the future full pelt) is my insistence that the present should be different to the way it is.

We have to be careful that our self development world does not create a treadmill of more/better/more and we become constantly focussed on improving/developing/healing ourselves - which causes us to reject the present and ourselves just as we are.

What would happen if we just accepted the present moment and ourselves in it exactly as we are?

(Remember this scene…..? If Jilly Cooper Rivals is making a come-back, we can have a little Bridget - surely?)

22 things to get rid of today for The Minimalists Game- if you’re struggling with the physical - keep shining a light around your emotional cupboard. What beliefs, old habits, toxic dynamics can you put in your rubbish bin today?

Discussion about this post

I've tossed out lots of personal develop questions like, what do I want, desire, dream of, love etc in favour of just one question which brings me right back into the now. Most of these questions lead to aspirational answers and keep me craving more and never feeling satisfied. They keep me striving and ignoring what's most important.

We gave away our tipi - to a local forest school. My husband said it all worked out seamlessly and the owner is super happy. 🥰
