What stories do you tell yourself about your writing? Do you stop yourself writing even before you put pen to paper, fingers to keyboard?

There are some stories that will definitely stop you in your tracks:

• ‘I’m no good at writing.’

• ‘Who will want to read anything I have to say?’

• ‘I’m not as good as x, y or z.’

There are some stories that might get you a different result:

• ‘Writing is a skill and I improve by doing more of it.

• ‘I can edit a first draft, I can’t edit a blank page’

• ‘I am learning how to write well.’

There has never been a better time to build your writing confidence. There are so many opportunities to get your work out in the world.

In the Heart Leap Club, we run two ‘happy writing hours’ a week where we get together, quietly supporting each other and creating a space where we are being brave enough to turn up to the page and write.

You might tell yourself: ‘I can’t write a book in two hours a week.’
