What’s your book called?
Life After Menopause; Embrace your next chapter with a healthy body and mind
Read this book if….
You are post menopausal (or almost!) and you have lingering symptoms, are worried about health risks or would like inspiration to really embrace this next chapter with confidence, health, and vitality.
What does it feel like to hold your book in your hand?
There’s obviously relief and pride to have finished it. But I’
d be lying if I didn’t admit to some nerves too. It’s been such a labour of love (along with sweat and tears), but you never know if it’s any good until the people it’s’ written for actually approve!
How long has it taken to write?
2 years- 18 months of writing, 6 months of production
What do you wish you’d known at the beginning of the book writing process?
How important a supportive community is - I wish I’d tried to find a community of other writers from the start. I found your group half way through my book and it made things so much easier. It gave me discipline and focus, and helped me build momentum.
What was the hardest bit?
For me, the hardest bit was the editing process. I found it easy to ‘vomit’ on the page (your term!) but so much harder to edit it into something worth reading. I’m not a very detailed person, so going over and over the text was not my favourite thing to do!
Any tips for getting your book published and out there?
Do some research about how you want to be published. I chose the self publishing route as I wanted to have control over my content and sales and marketing, and keep all my royalties. There are many different options now. Beware of some ‘hybrid’ publishers who will flatter you but want to take big royalties. Always read the contract.
If someone has an aspiration to write a book - what advice would you give?
Do it! If you’re passionate about something, then others will be too. Consistency is vital - prioritise time each day/week to just write something, then build from there.
Where can we buy your book?
Amazon; https://happyhormonesforlife.com/amazon-link
