“I will write my way into another life.”
How do you write your way into another life? Here's how. (Plus link for Heart Leap Writing Hour below)
“I will write my way into another life.”
― Ann Patchett
I am building my new life here in Alnwick, Northumberland and I am literally writing my way into a new life.
Every day, I am writing a journal. I am ‘vomiting’ on the page every morning all my thoughts and feelings and self-coaching myself as I admit my fears and my hopes and start planning my day and my week and the next 6 months and then changing my mind and then starting all over again.
It’s like mindful meditation on the page.
Over time, you start to see patterns and monsters for that they are.
You notice big fears that lurk and wait for you under the surface, just as the wind starts to pick up, the sails are full and the rudder seems to be taking you in the right direction.
And then…..suddenly, there are big monstrous tentacles from an under water life that threaten to pull you under again.
But when you allow yourself to sink beneath the waves, you realise you can magically breathe and with the right goggles and torch you can see into the murky depths and it doesn’t seem so scary any more.
Journaling allows you to swim underwater into your subconcious and bob back to the surface with pearls.
I am going to start a journalling hour at 7am on a Monday morning and see if we can journal together. I will create the prompts. We start on 1st July. I know it’s early but it’s a great way to set yourself up for the week. Stick it in your diary.
I hope you will join me.
P.s The twice weekly Heart Leap Writing Hour starts tomorrow at 9am.

Brilliant - hope to make some of those journalling sessions. Can’t make any promises on the state of my wild bed head though 😆😂
