I have found the secret to happiness.
No, really. (Plus zoom link to the Heart Leap Writing Hour below - we start at 9am)
At Heart Leap, I explore how to build a happy, creative, and simple life. At 9 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, I host ‘happy writing hours’ for paid subscribers. It’s for anyone who is trying to write a book, start a substack, or just have a little accountability for their writing practice. We chat for 5 minutes or so, and then we write quietly together for the rest of the hour. It’s strangely comforting and motivational to have a cohort of writers to support you and write alongside you. Zoom link for today’s class below. I also run monthly master classes on motivation and inspiration.
I have been slowly coming down from the ginormous high of
From the privilege of interviewing one my favourite authors to going out for dinner with old friends @elizabethallard @carolinegreen and new friends @lindacurtis @mariaorange in ACTUAL REAL LIFE, from laughing so much tea squirted out of my nose (it could have been SO much worse) to fully immersing myself in a festival that celebrates creativity and stories, I felt so full of happiness, I left a trail of heart leaping dust behind me wherever I went. It’s now been over a week since the Alnwick Story Fest took over the town with 51 events in 19 venues over 3 days.
For one weekend, my hometown became my mothership of stories, of hope, of possibility, of new horizons, of new perspectives, of inspiration and creativity - and my town was full of people who I adore.
My flat was full of my oldest friends, the cafes were full of my old and new friends and on stage were the people I want to entice to be my friends

I can’t believe I live here in Alnwick. In this fairy tale town with a castle, a treehouse and secret garden, where magic really does happen.
I even got the chance to run a little workshop for my Heart Leap tribe and got to meet some of my inspirational, brave tribe who meet every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 9am to write our books and get our wild imaginings on the page.
For a whole 48 hours, I got to fully embody my values of creativity, connection and inspiration.
This is my secret to happiness.
It’s about doing what you love hanging out with people that you love and letting your hair stand on end because you just feel happy.
I’m not saying there weren’t a few challenges behind the scenes – getting locked out at 1am and having to sleep on the floor, my son in tears 500 miles away because he’d screwed something up at Uni really badly (he’s OK now), dramatic foot high spelling mistakes of star authors.
But when you fill your life with what really matters to you, all the other stuff just fades gently into the background.
It’s all true.
Live your values and you fill your heart up to the top until it spills over and you can give without it costing you anything.
Follow your bliss and it will take you where you want to go.
Follow the breadcrumbs and you really do get to eat all the carbs.
Leap and the net will appear- and you can bounce really high.
Live a life that makes your heart leap and everything finally makes sense.
You can start today.
Our Heart Leap writing club meets today at 9am for our writing hour. Here’s the Zoom link below.
