“Every happy home has a foundation of love and a framework of support.” — Wes Fesler
We create love at home by choosing connection over criticism, warmth over withdrawal, play over perfection. Walls and roofs protect us from the weather — but it’s love that turns a house into a home.
I live alone but I create a happy home by deciding to nourish myself versus eating standing up in the kitchen (last weekend I baked scones for the first time in 10 years), nurturing myself by creating a nest of a bed that I will often escape to for a swift nap when it all gets too much and cheering myself on a little bit when I feel my energy flag (now with scones…). A happy home is made by happy people, who eat lots of scones, I’ve discovered recently!
Writing prompt:
What simple act of love — a word, a gesture, a ritual — could you bring into your home today to make it feel happier?
For the next 12 weeks, I’m doubling up on the Heart Leap Writing Hour — every Monday to Thursday, 9–10am (UK). We write together. You turn up with whatever you’re working on, and you’re met by people who get it. You don’t have to explain yourself — you just have to show up.
Come for the writing. Stay for the people. We start at 9am today.
