The Minimalists,Everything That Remains
When I worked at Psychologies, we featured The Minimalists nearly every month - we were very excited by what they had to say.
Stop consuming, start creating.
Stop trying to buy happiness and find happiness within.
Value people, not things.
But they are not telling you that you need to get all of your stuff, they are just inspiring us to take a pause so we can think about our consumption levels and ask some better questions about the stuff in our lives.
Have you seen the Netflix documentary?
In the Heart Leap community, we’ve just started the 30 Day Minimalist game. If you feel inspired - join us! It’s day 5 and you’re invited to get rid of 5 things today.
Here are 5 tips from The Minimalists on how to start decluttering:
1. Question. Start your process by asking the most important question: “How might my life be better with less?” By answering this question, you identify the benefits of letting go—not just the how-to, but the more important why-to. The benefits are different for each of us. For some, it’s improved health or relationships; for others, the benefits are financial freedom or more time to create. Understanding the purpose of decluttering will grant you the leverage to keep going.
2. Start Small. Once you understand why you’re decluttering, get momentum by starting small. We recommend the 30-Day Minimalism Game, which makes decluttering fun by injecting some friendly competition. (Note - we are on day 5 - join us! You can still catch up!)
3. Packing Party. Once you have momentum, let go of more stuff by throwing a Packing Party. Do it in one room—or if you’re feeling adventurous, your entire house!
4. Rules. If you need guidance along the way, consider the Just-in-Case Rule, the 90/90 Rule, and the 10/10 Material Possessions Theory to help you stay on track.
5. Organise. No matter where you are on your journey, always remember: the easiest way to organize your stuff is to get rid of most of it.

Trying to follow along on this challenge, and so far, so good! I don't know if/how I'll manage when we get to double figures, but enjoying the daily encouragement! Thank you Suzy :)
Ps great inspiration to re-watch The Minimalists documentary 👌🏻
I’ve just disposed of payslips and P60s etc going back to the 1980s- I’ve just retired, no one is ever going to ask me for evidence of my salary in the last millennium!
