7 Keys to creating a happy, simple and creative life when you feel like crap
Midlife can be miserable at times. How do you navigate intense change, and find the will to point yourself in the direction you want to go when you've run of of energy and ideas?
Midlife can feel pretty miserable at times. I hit a real rock bottom three years ago.
My son had left for university, my relationship had broken down and I ended up living in a strange town in a tiny flat where I knew almost no one on the wild coast of Northumberland and thought to myself - what on earth have I done?
I felt sad, heart-broken, lonely and lost.
So what do you do?
Nikki Williams, award-winning nutritionist, author, speaker and founder of Happy Hormones for Life interviewed me for her podcast where we discussed the midlife journey and what to do when you find yourself all at sea, rudderless without a paddle and no land in sight.
I have known Nikki for a long time since my Psychologies days and she has been helping women through their 40's and beyond to beat stress, fatigue, weight gain and hormone havoc.

P.S On Monday, the first of July, I’m running my first 7am journalling session where I will be running a guided journalling session where you can set your intentions for the month ahead. You can wear your PJs and dial in from your bed. All you need is a pen and your journal.
Everyone’s invited.

Thank you - this really hit home. I’ve stepped away from work to try and find… myself? My purpose? To heal.
With nothing filling my diary (and I’m off all social media) the NOISE is so loud. My brain is flooded.
There are moments of pure joy and calm, but I have to be honest it’s mostly self-critical. It was so, so helpful to hear you reflect on this.
Life is always a mixture of all emotions, but I’m hoping to stay still for long enough for more joy to come to the surface. As you say, the only way out is through.
It’s tough - but this has given me hope. Thanks 🙏🏻
Love the idea is keeping your anchors down when you make a big leap, something I didn’t have when my marriage ended 14 years ago. This was great to watch/listen, especially as my daughter is off to uni soon and is also a single child, so I can relate. I’ve been thinking of relocating for some time and I think I’ll just have to do it! Thanks for sharing your wise words Suzy and Nikki!
