1st July: Write your way into another life
Come to our 7am journalling session on the first of the month and join me on our 31 day journalling challenge.
“I will write my way into another life.”
― Ann Patchett
Words create spells where we can sprinkle some magic into our lives.
Journalling is our wand which we can use to transform our thinking and our feelings and gain perspective.
I believe we can literally write our way into another life.
It’s a safe place where we can meet ourselves and let go of the stories that keep us stuck and start to create new stories that can help us fly.
I was introduced to journalling via Julia Cameron’s 12 week course - The Artist’s Way and after 12 weeks of writing 3 pages a day every morning - I could see my life and myself more clearly.
Journalling allows you to have an honest conversation - with yourself. It’s like a therapy session with yourself, where you get to listen to your fears and your greatest hopes and over time begin to gently encourage yourself.
It allows you to get in touch with your inner coach versus your inner critic.
Don’t just take my word for it
Journalling is scientifically proven to improve your mental and physical health.
Over 200 scientific studies have been done on the power of expressive writing to help us take control of our thoughts and our minds.
James Pennebaker, a social psychologist at the University of Texas at Austin, has been studying the impact of journalling 1986 and ever since research studies have reported that “emotional writing” can improve your life.
In Pennebaker’s orginal study, it showed that those who wrote about personal upheavals for 15 minutes a day over three or four days improved their immunity as well as increased feelings of happiness.
Other studies show that journalling increases resilience, and decreases depression and stress.
I’d like to invite you all to a live 7am journalling session tomorrow for the first of the month.
We’re half way through the year it’s perfect time to grab a coffee and sit in your PJs and journal together about what you want the next 6 months to look like.
I will give you prompts and we’ll all write together.
Then for the month of July, I will post one journalling prompt a day where you can experiment with journalling for yourself.
Let’s write ourselves into a new life.
One page at a time.
