1st February: An extra 24 hours in your Heart Leap year?
Every month, it's a chance to check in and begin again.
“Waking up this morning, I smile. Twenty-four brand new hours are before me. I vow to live fully in each moment,” Thich Nhat Hanh
It’s the first of February.
It’s a leap year.
What if you made it a heart-leap year?
A year where you plotted the direction of travel towards a life that makes your heart leap?
It can take a while to get back on track if you’ve drifted off.
Daily navigation
But if you just focus on today and do some conscious and daily navigation towards your true north, then it’s not so overwhelming.
I love a vision board; I love big plans, but what about now?
How do you fill your days?
Seconds, minutes, hours, and days are the currency of our lives.
What do we want to spend it on?
To be honest, this thought has haunted me for nearly 40 years. Losing my parents at an early age certainly focused my mind. They didn’t get the chance to spend their currency.
‘You don’t know how long you’ve got’.
‘Don’t waste your time.’
‘Make every day count.’
These are thoughts that flash up in my brain when I find myself drifting off course.
I haven’t wanted to waste my life.
It’s not made my life relaxing.
I definitely try to pack a lot in.
For a while, there was a blind running away from the grief, but then I started to find a direction. I got some skills, I realised what I’m good at, and then I could start heading towards something rather than running away.
What are you going to plant in your garden?
What do we want to plant in our garden?
What is currently flourishing and what isn’t?
Many of us have planted seeds of our attention, our skills, and our time in our jobs, our families, and our relationships.
Some seeds only blossom for a season, some blossom every year, and some never blossom at all.
This February, as we start to shuffle around in our dark pit of hibernation and prepare for re-entry into Spring - what seeds do you want to plant this year?
What seeds can you plant daily that will enable the garden of your life to look beautiful and feed you metaphorically and literally?
What new thoughts and beliefs do you want to plant?
What new skills do you want to grow?
What new passions do you want to feed?
You have an extra 24 hours this year to wander about the garden. How can you plant the seeds that create a garden that makes your heart leap?
Have a good month.
What gorgeous questions to consider: thank you, Suzy x
Love this, I am feeling a greater shift on staying more present and making the most of 'now'. Aligned thoughts to the future picture is so powerful I think. I shared in my community this week "You will find, what you seek." It's helping me get hold of those unhelpful whiney thoughts and change them!
