11 questions to ask after 31 days of decluttering.
And it's a wrap. Thank you for joining me this month. Here are 11 questions to ponder. In November, we will be exploring question 2 in more depth.
“Happiness, as far as we are concerned, is achieved through living a meaningful life, a life that is filled with passion and freedom, a life in which we can grow as individuals and contribute to other people in meaningful ways. Growth and contribution: those are the bedrocks of happiness. Not stuff. This may not sound sexy or marketable or sellable, but it’s the cold truth. Humans are happy if we are growing as individuals and if we are contributing beyond ourselves. Without growth, and without a deliberate effort to help others, we are just slaves to cultural expectations, ensnared by the trappings of money and power and status and perceived success.” Joshua Fields Millburn
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned from decluttering this month?
How has your perception of “enough” changed over the last 30 days?
What items did you let go of that you never thought you would? How did it feel?
Which areas of your life, beyond physical possessions, feel “lighter” after this exploration?
How has minimalism influenced your daily routines or habits?
What were the biggest emotional or mental hurdles you faced, and how did you overcome them?
Is there an area of your life where you’d still like to simplify or declutter?
How has your relationship with material possessions shifted?
What new intentions or habits do you want to carry forward to keep life more minimal?
Reflect on a moment where you felt true peace or clarity this month. What contributed to that feeling?
How can you continue to focus on what truly matters, now that you’ve completed this journey?
[Many thanks to The Minimalists for their inspiration and wisdom]
I loved this challenge! Much of what I got rid of later in the month was old electronic files and emails. As for the clutter in my flat, I choose to love it. Much of it belongs to other people and I can’t rid of it without getting rid of them, so I will live amidst clutter.
9. Not being lazy about putting things away asap as I touch them…
